Avram Davidson edited the Magazine of F & SF from 1962-’64, and this is the second of the two best-of-the-year anthologies in the long-running series that he edited before the Fermans began their almost thirty-year run. It has good stories from authors such as Terry Carr, Kit Reed, J.G. Ballard, Thomas M. Disch, Ron Goulart, and Alan E. Nourse, though I think A Rose For Ecclesiastes by Roger Zelazny stands head and shoulders above anything else in the book.
